As of today, I have researched many websites and newspapers trying to get an accurate number of the protesters that marched in Washington D.C. on Saturday. There seems to be a huge question as to the numbers that made made their way to the nation’s capitol to let their voices be heard against bigger government, stimulus bailouts, cash for clunkers, Universal Health Care Reform, and the very freedom our nation is know for around the world.

Overall, the march was peaceful, if not at times boisterous, but always on course. The people had arrived in Washington with one thing on their mind…standing up for freedom in our beloved nation. Of course there were those that went a little too far in their passion but at least they were passionate.

One YouTube video showed a couple of A.C.O.R.N. people being booed out. So of course there were “plants” in the crowd.

No matter the number…the people’s voices were heard and I think it was a great success. I wish I could have stood there beside them. How about you?

FAR Editor

P.S. I wonder what President Obama was thinking when his helicopter flew over the crowd as he left the White House? We may just find out in the coming days. But, will it be the truth?

The Wall Street Journal had this to say about the Tea Party Express March:

The speech before the joint session of Congress has come and gone – did President Obama hit a home run on his Health Care proposal? I think not. Instead, it was more of the same – in fact, the President seemed defiant. The lines have been drawn. No bi-partisan teamwork here. It appears the voices of the people that were calling out during the summer Town Hall Meetings have been met with sarcasm and anger. Our great country was built on dissent by the people – the government does not have the right to “dictate” to the people but it does have an obligation to hear the voice of the people and to listen. Alas, it seems the President is bent on only one mission and that is to pass this monstrosity of Obama Care. Never mind the number one concern on the American people’s mind is the economy and the need for employment.

A president that cares about its people would take a stand of attacking the number one problem in the country – getting unemployment down. Finding ways to put those who have lost their livelihood back to work. The health care issue needs to be put on the back burner. Address the most urgent problems facing Americans today: Unemployment, Run-Away Government Spending, The Stimulus Package Boondoggle, The U.S. Budget in Total Disarray, and on and on it goes. These are problems that could sink America. PRESIDENT OBAMA! ARE YOU LISTENING? Why are you so fixated on the this one issue? Do you remember that Nero fiddled while Rome burned? Hello Mr. President! It’s time to take out your ear plugs!!!

Health care for all Americans is a a huge problem and needs overhauling but raping its people in the process of a program that is just downright wrong and against the Constitution is not the answer. Putting men and women to work so they can keep food on the table and pay for their homes is an immediate need that cannot and should not be overlooked.

I certainly don’t have all the answers and we need to pray for those who are faced with finding the answers and implementing them – their job is not an easy one. In fact, it seems insurmountable. But, the American people have overcome adversity before and they will again given good leadership.

President Obama – you need to listen to the American people. Have you noticed that unemployment is the number one concern? Have you taken notice that your ratings in the polls are not on the positive side? Maybe you need to stand back, take a look at the drawing board and then represent the people – listen to those you are supposed to represent. You may actually be a better president.

FAR Editor

A good take on the President’s speech comes from The Wall Street Journal.

It’s Still the Economy, Stupid
This could be America’s greatest failed presidency.

By Daniel Henninger – The Wall Street Journal

“To save himself and his party from enduring another health-care debacle, Barack Obama should put his agenda on the back burner, bend his efforts to raising the economy, and rebuild his political capital by taking credit for the inevitable rebound. That just might minimize the impending loss of House seats and allow him to revisit his wish list in 2011. The alternative is promising big, accomplishing little and getting credit for nothing. This could be America’s greatest failed presidency.”

(Click on the above link for the rest of Henninger’s observations.)

*Senator John Cornyn gives pause for thought as he outlines the need for President Obama to answer directly to the questions being asked by the American public. How can we trust the President when he says one thing and then turns around and says something entirely different? Can we believe our representatives when even they do not understand the health plan bill? Where are the answers to the questions demanded by the American public? Will the President be honest and upfront with the nation during tonight’s telecast in front of the joint houses of Congress?

Those questions and more will be on the table tonight as Americans tune in to see Obama’s take on getting across his message on support of the health care bill. Will it be rhetoric as usual or will he be honest and open? I have serious doubts that his speech will change the image of the bill for most of our citizens. Miracles do happen but this would take a big one; one I don’t think Washington can deliver. We must stand vigilant and firm – keeping our voices heard and hearts lifted in prayer to know the truth.

FAR Editor

Senator John Cornyn:

“The president can bank a huge reservoir of public trust Wednesday by engaging the public with direct answers to their commonsense questions, such as:

–We spend nearly double per capita what some other industrialized nations spend on health care; how will another trillion dollars really reduce health care spending?

–How can we cut nearly $500 billion from the Medicare program for seniors when it is now underfunded by three times the national debt and currently projected to be bankrupt by 2017?

–How will a new government-run insurance program “keep insurers honest” when our two current public plans, Medicare and Medicaid, are riddled with unmatched fraud, waste and abuse?

–How do we reconcile the claim that lobbyist influence in Washington is decreasing with the fact that those most closely consulted on these gargantuan bills are special interest groups like the pharmaceutical industry?

–”Minimum benefit packages” that are mandated as a part of every insurance plan sound great, but since there’s no such thing as a free lunch, don’t mandated benefits actually reduce choices and drive up costs for all patients?

–Will employer “pay-or-play” mandates accelerate the job losses we are seeing across the country?”

*Sen. John Cornyn, R-Texas, serves on the Finance, Judiciary, Agriculture and Budget committees and is the chairman of the National Republican Senatorial Committee. Benjamin E.
Freedom at risk is more than a name for this website. The name was chosen because of the perilous times America is facing. Our country’s freedom is under attack by those elected to protect her Constitution and values. Those extremist who are attempting change are destroying the very foundations laid by our forefathers.

The Town Hall meetings, Freedom Concert Tours, and other organized or dis-organized efforts are working to get the attention of our elected officials. Sad to say, it is also getting the attention of those who would like to silence those who are boldly standing up to our government and saying “no” to their outrageous spending, Health-Care reform, the taking over of the auto industry, banking, and numerous other institutions. Government was never meant to run America. The American people are the ones who should be running companies and investing their money to build and employ people…we are a capitalist nation. A nation that allows Americans to dream and then make those dreams come true through hard work and investing their money to build companies and mom and pop businesses. We don’t live in a nation where the government decides what we will and will not accomplish. The elected officials are sent to Washington, D.C. to represent their constituents…to uphold the Constitution. There duties are defined and yet they have taken it upon themselves to change the rules and are leading the country down a dangerous path to socialism. A path where the people’s voices will not be heard and Big Government will make decisions and then place those ideologies upon the backs of the American people.

It’s time to stand up and be counted among those who say “no” to Big Government. Say “no” to Universal Health Care. Say “no” to Industry Take Over. And, say “no” to Socialism. America is the greatest nation on earth and has stood for over 200 years as the world’s idea of democracy. Our country, our people, our very existence is counting on our coming to her rescue. The “silent” majority has been awakened and there is no stopping what she can do when faced with fighting for America’s freedom.

Get involved in this fight for freedom whether it’s through joining a Tea Party group in your area (if you don’t have one – start one), attending Town Hall Meetings, writing and calling your senators, congressmen, and representatives, start a blog, talk with your friends and family. Vote those out of office that would dare take away your freedom. Voting is not only a freedom many in our world don’t have but it’s a requirement for those who would stand up and defend the people’s right to freedom. Take time to find out where you can fit in and then make your voice heard. To win this war on our freedom takes one person at a time making a difference until we become a roar heard all the way to Washington, D.C.

Remember to support our troops. Pray for their safety daily – and, remember to pray for their families. Let them know you appreciate the sacrifices they are making in protecting our freedom and the freedom of those around the world. Our military should be our heroes. Get involved in adopting a soldier, send a card, a care package, donate to organizations that support our troops and their families. Fly the U.S. flag proudly – not just on holidays but everyday. Let everyone know you are a patriotic American and you love your country.

And, don’t forget to pray for America. Pray for our president and those in our government. Pray they will have wisdom and make wise decisions. Pray about the bills pending. Pray for yourself and your family and friends. Pray that God will hear His people and heal their land. That He will bring revival to America and bless her people in mighty ways.

Freedom is not free. It never has been. It never will be. It takes the people of this mighty nation staying vigilant and ready to take a stand to defend those freedoms. It take courageous men, women, and children to say “no” to those who would try and dismantle the United States of America. Don’t let it happen on our watch!

“The extension from the Monday 8 pm deadline came after an “overwhelming demand” on the Web site for dealers to submit applications caused the site to crash Monday afternoon, the department said. Dealers had been scrambling to get the paperwork in before the deadline, worried that if a last-minute rush to enter applications jammed the system, they would be on the hook for rebates already given to customers. Many halted sales under the program days early to give themselves time to file for the rebates.”

“The Department of Transportation said clunker deals still must be made before 8 pm Monday.”

The dealers may, or may not, get their money.

“Meanwhile, the program has proven to be an administrative fiasco, as the central planners at Transportation vastly underestimated how many people would apply, assigned too few people to process applications, and had to scramble to borrow workers from the likes of the Federal Aviation Administration to process claims. Auto dealers have nonetheless told of having to front the money to car buyers as they wait and wait for Uncle Sam to get around to paying them.” (Click on the above link to read the rest of the story.)

______________________________________________________________________________________________

The government can’t even handle the giving away of money – how can they expect us to trust them? Just hope the car dealers receive the rebates…otherwise, the auto industry will be facing even harder times. FAR Editor

Sean Hannity – Fox News

Sean sums it up…

“That Governments do not have the ability to solve all of our problems, and to take away all of our fears and concerns. We need their pledge that we will be the candidate that promotes Individual liberty, Capitalism, a strong national defense and will support policies that encourage such…

It is our fundamental belief that limited Government, and Greater individual responsibility will insure the continued prosperity and success for future generations.

We the people who believe in the words of Ronald Reagan, that we are “the best last hope for man on this earth,” “a shining city on a hill,” and that our best days are before us if our Government will simply trust the American people.”
